Changing Device Name/Hostname

I installed Fedora 17 in Vmware using vmware easy install. How do i change the device name/host name?
When i am in terminal, it says user@(none). How do i change the (none). In system settings, device. the device name is grayed out and blank

In F17, edit /etc/sysconfig/network. There should be a line in there HOSTNAME=whatever.whatever.com

In F18, this will be replaced by the hostnamectl set-hostname --static command, but I don't know if that works in F17.

It doesn't exist in F17.

If for any reason the /etc/sysconfig/network edit fails to do the job (after reboot). Then delete all the network lease files in /var/lib/dhclient .
