I can't detect the right wireless network
Hi.
My problem is my desktop PC with fedora 17 and kde which I can't detect the wireless network with WPA in home to access internet. I live in a student residence and the only INTERNET available is a network wireless with WPA. I plugged a wireless USB adapter Digitech and fedora didn't have problem to start working automatically with it. But when I want to connect with the network of the residence just one network (from 3) is detected and it is not the internet connection.
I had ubuntu 12 installed before which detected the right network but never worked with WPA security system. So, I changed to fedora and KDE to try connecting to the network but i find problems again
With my laptop (with windows 7) I don't have problems to detect and access to this wireless network.
(Sorry, for my English I am Chilean student)
Regards

Re: I can't detect the right wireless network
Is it possible that it's a hidden network? If so, you might have to choose something like connect to other network and then enter information (the network name).

Hi. Thanks for the response. Do you refer to hidden network option that appears in the list of connection? I've already try writing the name of the network, but nothing happen. How do you active that connection? Anyway with windows and Ubuntu the network is detected, but with Fedora no.

Re: I can't detect the right wireless network
Yes, I was referring to that. If it was a hidden network, and you click on it, then add the name of that network, it should work.
If it's not working in Fedora, but is in other versions of Linux, it might be Fedora, it might be the version of NetworkManager, the driver, or any number of things. I have a page on trying to troubleshoot wireless at http://home.roadrunner.com/~computer.../wireless.html which might at least tell you if it's NetworkManager or Fedora itself causing it not to work.

Yes I tried that but is not working.
I have installed Fedora Fedora 17 LXDE and now the system detects the network signal for Internet but I have now the same problem with ubuntu: when I want to connect with the network of the residence a message asks me for the password. Then, I write the password. But few seconds later the message appears again asking for the password. No mater how many times I wrote the password, the message asks me again and again.

Re: I can't detect the right wireless network
Oddly enough, this is often the driver. When you said you tried that, you mean you followed my troubleshooting steps--iwlist saw the networks, and then you tried connecting by wpa_config and it wouldn't connect, right?
If that's the case, then I really don't know. You might try with another Linux flavor to see if it works better.

No,no... I mean that I tried to connect to hidden network using the name... I going to follow the instructions of your web page tonight and I will post here the results later.
Any case I have the official CD with drivers for Windows and Linux. But I I've not installed them because Ubuntu and Fedora recognized the adapter just plugging it. the adapter is similar to this: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...UBCATID=1043#6
