On Fc17 KDE (Spin) FF,TB and LibO not in default Language

Hello @all

I have a FC17 / KDE Install. I will use: Thunderbird, Firefox and also Libreoffice. I have it set up from the Fedora Packages. My Desktop Language is: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8

If i start LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 firefox from a shell - the right language was start. But FF starts in English from the KDE Menu. Also Thunderbird and Libreoffice.

How can i start (in KDE) my Apps whit "my" Language?! Thanks in advanced

Hello majestyx,

The best way that I know of is to change the default language for the whole spin/remix. You can do this by changing a line toward the top of the fedora-live-base.ks from:
lang_en_US.UTF-8
to
lang_de_DE.UTF-8

You can also change the keyboard type on the next line if you are not using a us keyboard.

Hope this helps,

Re: On Fc17 KDE (Spin) FF,TB and LibO not in default Language

Moin Andrew,

Sorry, but i don't have a file fedora-live-base.ks My KDE Spin was installed on a PC

I have found "howtos" to fedora live tolls, and the fedora-live-base.ks is a piece of this. (if i understand it right)

another solution?

thunderbird, firefox and also the bash shell have no "my" installed language.

nice sunday @ all !

Hi majestyx,

Oh, your question was posted in the spins/remixes forum, so that is why I thought you were creating a spin/remix.

I am not very familiar with KDE, but in gnome when you select your username to login before you type the password there is a way to choose language at the bottom of the screen (if the alternative language package is installed) that should set the language for that session. Maybe the same for KDE

Hope this helps,

Probably missing the language packs for those apps. Open System Settings and go to Locale > system Languages to set your preferred language there. It will offer to download the needed packages.

Re: On Fc17 KDE (Spin) FF,TB and LibO not in default Language

Sorry Wayne and Andrew, yesterday i was the hole day "on the road" (sometimes i must work )
And as a second issue: i set up KDE again. (on my first set up i install a gnome app. this app need gnome keyring..... that's crash )

OK, back to my new Fedora-KDE. I am only a User, but i give a Big Thanks and many Applause to the "Spin Doctors"

this posting has helped: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=61063

Try:

export LANG=en_GB

or

export LANG=en_GB.UTF-8

-

add one of these into ~/.bashrc

-
add it system wide default into /etc/sysconfig/i18n

Thanks for your help!
