yumex locked up

After installing software today yumex just seemed to stop working and locks up . I am running F17 Fedora KDE with latest yumex. When I run it from konsole here is what I get:

[richard@localhost ~]$ yumex
20:57:44 : INFO - Using config file : /home/richard/.config/yumex/yumex.conf
20:57:44 : INFO - Using config file : /home/richard/.config/yumex/yumex.conf
20:57:44 : DEBUG - network interface wlan0 (ath5k) is connected
20:57:44 : INFO - Connected to an network
20:57:44 : DEBUG - network interface wlan0 (ath5k) is connected
20:57:45 : INFO - Starting yum child process
20:57:45 : INFO - YUM: ==== AUTHENTICATING FOR org.yum-extender.backend.pkexec.run ===
20:57:45 : INFO - YUM: Authentication is required for Yum Extender to handle packages on the system
20:57:45 : INFO - YUM: Authenticating as: Richard Carlson (richard)

It seems like its waiting for my authroization or password before it begins it processing. I no longer get a password box on the screen asking for passwords. . .
Any Help would be appreciated. . .

I removed the program and then re-installed it with the same results. It just sits there waiting to do something but does nothing.

I noticed another quirk. . .. when you install a downloaded program file (rpm) and try to install it with apper the authorizations screen no longer pops up asking for the users password before it starts to installs the file along with any dependencies it needs. This no longer works. . ..

Last but not least. . . .the system will not shut down at all when you select the 'red' LEAVE butter and select shutdown. . . . ? I've seen this happen before and have not seen any explanation as to why this happens. . .

Re: yumex locked up

I noticed that with my F18 install running Xfce as well.

It appears that yumex has issues if the user running it isn't created as a admin user. Once I set up the user to be an admin user, then yumex started working fine.

I don't like that behavior, since I don't normally run as a user that has elevated privileges (and think it's kinda stupid to do so)

But, try setting up the user as a admin user and see if it works around your yumex problem. You can do so either through the user config screen, or just add the user to the wheel group.

Re: yumex locked up

DBelton, your issue was fixed with the latest polkit package (don't need to be in wheel group anymore).

rich52, sorry, but don't know about your issue. yumex works fine here in F17 Xfce. But it's Xfce and my user is not in the wheel group (sudo thing).

Try looking at ~/.xsession-errors for error messages.

If you want to compare, this is my yumex (version 3.0.6-1) on Fedora 17 and it works

Re: yumex locked up

Simply try to run in as root. For running yum commands that are used by Yumex you must have root privileges.

Note you can only do that by using the --root option
