Hi all my ports were blocked. That is why it happened.

Now I was trying debian and I decided to go back to centos.

I know on debian I tried installing proftpd now it seems like it is installed from debian ?

or is proftpd standrad for centos becasue before I could not connect the reason was the ports.. if proftpd is already installed for me how can i configure it? Thanks

EDIT: I followed this

adduser (user)
passwd (user)

but now I want to make this user the main user so I can control everything on my FTP how do I do that?

If you are saying you have issues with ports, you need to try:
Start your terminal
Code:
su -
system-config-firewall
While in that Firewall program, you need to have ftp and ftp-data ports open.

You can look at /etc/services to find other respective port numbers.

I called the support they fixed it now. All I want to do is make ROOT ftp account , i created one with adduser and passwd , but I want to make that user be able to acces whole hard-drive.

Do you know what I mean?

By default, root login is not allow thru vsftpd. That is there for security purposes.

Two files in:
/etc/vsftpd
ftpusers
user_list

Since you are using a outside host Linux box:
Ftp servers are not that flexible to use the whole drive. I prefer you to use secure shell, ssh & sftp. However you should very HARD password for root and prefer to install denyhosts. That way denyhosts would deny those failed to login as root.
Code:
su -
yum install vsftpd denyhosts

Basically all I want is to have a FTP account that I will be able to ctonroll everything

when I go to vim /etc/proftpd.conf I see that there is a root user I changed it but now what is the password? I have no idea where to check it
when I tried passwd (USER that is in proftpd.conf) it said user does not exist.. I am already struggling with those for the 3 days.. if anyone can be nice enough and help me I would really apperciate
