Repository question

I'm running Fedora 17 upgraded from 16 using preupgrade. All references for repositories shown in Apper refer to Fedora 16. Is this a problem? Howto correct?

It appears Preupgrade is the problem. The boot folder contains file names containing *fc16*. There is no reference to fc17 within the boot folder. The file /etc/os-release reads:

I recall when first attempting to boot to Fedora 17 after Preupgrade said it was finished the first line in the Grub menu refered to upgrade Fedora 17. Selecting this option led to a black screen for a half hour, then I manually powered down. Sudsequent booting to the second option in the Grub menu got me into Fedora. Did a grub update, rebooted and the reference to Fedora 17 in the grub menu was gone.

I'd like to update to 17, one thing I find curious is when booting 17 from the live CD its necessary to select safe graphics mode. This wasn't necessary from the live CD in 16. Will it be necessary to do a clean install of 17?

Another useless new application (Apper), I didn't think there was anything wrong with yum, and on my PC Apper comes on by itself causing interruption of other applications and just sits there doing nothing with no way of stopping it without restarting PC,
I just don't understand why we take working applications and turn them into useless crap.

Take my word for it, someone is trying to destroy Linux !
