Package Manager
Hello,
I am coming from the Debian way (previously used Ubuntu 9.04) and I am having troubles with the package mannager in Fedora 11.
- It doesn't have a progress bar
- If you select something from the menu, the install or update stops
- One package fails, ALL fail...even if the others have no dependency problems
- When you select a bunch of packages, the gui does not tell you how many MBytes you have selected
Really...I prefer to install things using a terminal than the gui. Is there an alternative?

Many people prefer yumex. It has progress bars and other features including giving you the total download before you confirm. However it still will fail if a package has problems.

If I'm not mistaken you can also install and use apt for Fedora.

Progess bar
When you download in the terminal it should show you what it is downloading along with the progress of the download. If you use the Add/Remove GUI app you can go up to the package icon that has a blue "earth" on it (on the top bar of the screen usually close to the right) and right click on it. It says something about 'downloading" or "Updating" during the process. If you left click on it, another small window will appear with the progress bar.

If you prefer the terminal, why not just use yum?

Thanks, I will try this yumex thing...I said before that I prefered terminal, but if there is a good gui, I'll use it.
Again, thank you all.

May be rpm packages broken, please try with:
Code:
yum clean all
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
rpm --rebuilddb
yum update
