[SOLVED] Yum Question

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

My question is: How to skip the installation of a package when using yum update from the command line?
ie. How would one update a system from command line and skip/not update kernel?

yum update --exclude=kernel

If you want to exclude the PAE kernel also you need to add a * after kernel.

yum update --exclude=kernel*

PS. No more Gentoo?

Haven't run Gentoo in quite awhile, actually. Got lazy, have a few games I want to play on my desktop, and I don't have the patience to build Gentoo on my netbook (the machine I'm posting from).
