how do I set wallpaper in KDE4.4?
Just installed KDE4.4 from a Fedora 12 Gnome installation and can't see anything when I right click on the desktop, no cashew either.

Re: how do I set wallpaper in KDE4.4?
You should have a menu on the right click which includes Desktop Activity Settings. The wall paper is set there.

Thank you, but if you read my post, you'll see I've already tried that.

That's why I said you should have it, if you don't there is something wrong with your installation. How did you install KDE?

Re: how do I set wallpaper in KDE4.4?
What is this, an Ubuntu forum? Yes there is some wrong. When I right click on my KDE desktop I should get a menu similar to the one that opens when clicking on the cashew, but I don't and there is no cashew on my desktop, whish is the reason I opened this thread.
How did I install KDE? I used PackageKit like everybody else. Thanks for playing.

Shame people don't appreciate help that is offered. Good luck finding the answer.

What help? You didn't as much as take the time to read the message portion of my original thread. Run up your post total on another forum and don't waste any more of our time.

Re: how do I set wallpaper in KDE4.4?
I'm sorry you feel like that.
My reason for asking how you installed was to see what you installed. If you did yum install @kde-desktop you would have got all kde. But as you used package kit it is unclear until you give further info what you actually installed. I suspect you are missing parts of kde.
The other possibility is a problem in your kde config. Removing the .kde directory in your home directory will solve that however be aware you will lose any customisation including things like amarok playlists.

Re: how do I set wallpaper in KDE4.4?
I am definitely missing parts of KDE, which is why I used a package manager gui to pick the parts I wanted to install, including everything necessary for a usable KDE workspace, without the load of bloat that comes with "all of KDE".
The deletion of my ~/.kde folder was going to be my next step, when I thought I'd first try to find another explanation in this forum. Having now taken that step, my problem is solved. For anyone else who needs to delete this folder, it should be done from a window manager other than KDE or from the console if KDE is the only session available.

Re: how do I set wallpaper in KDE4.4?
Pleased to see you have it working.
I agree with your idea of only installing what you want. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work in Fedora as when there is an update you get everything not only what you installed. I installed this system only a couple of weeks ago and removed several apps in the anaconda app selection screens, eg kdepim which I never use. Did an update after installing and I got kdepim and everything else. I wish Fedora would only update what is on the system.
