gksu errors
Hi All,
Anyone what this gksu error is about (it repeats it three times)
Many thanks,
-T
gksu-2.0.0-1.el5.rf.x86_64.rpm
# gksu ls
GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.)

Is this on a Fedora OS, or some other? If on Fedora, you have the answer: this is not a Fedora package, so expect problems. If some other OS, I'll move to "Linux Chat".

I could not find an rpm for FC12. Since CentOS 5.4 is essentially FC6, I thought it would work. And it does. It just bitches a lot when it does.
Do yo know how to get rid of these error messages? Know of an rpm for FC12?
Many thanks,

Re: gksu errors
As it turns out: I was looking for exactly this RPM earlier today (which is why I responded), or alternately gnomesu and/or sux, but found none (for any Fedora release) stand-alone.
If it works (but with whining) I'd simply ignore. Probably the result of changes in GNOME and/or other related software, since RHEL5 uses much older versions. I do not know how one would fix the errors.

I wound up putting my script in sudoers. Did you every come up with a gksu you liked?

Unfortunately, no, I found none - and gsmartcontrol won't launch from menus without one of them - and on F11/12 LXDE, I'm not willing to install gnome-libs (and deps) just to get gnomesu to launch it for me. The alternative is to launch as root ('su' or 'su -', 'sudo' is not enough) from a terminal.
But as for gksu: no, there does not appear to be a Fedora-compatible RPM (that I can find).
