Allocate more Hard Drive Space

Hello,

I have a dual boot computer with Windows7 and Fedora17. I have been using Fedora17 so much that I need some more space. I have been trying to find a good guide online on how to do this, but have had no luck. Was wondering if anybody new of a good guide or could provide me with steps on how to solve this issue?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Allocate more Hard Drive Space

If you have free space on your existing drive(s), or if you are able to shrink the space used by Windows 7, then I personally would use the Parted Magic live CD, and run gparted to resize the partitions. At the risk of stating the obvious: back everything up first!

You can get the Parted Magic CD from http://partedmagic.com/doku.php?id=downloads.

How to resize your partitions depends very much on how you have partitioned your disk in the first place...do you have LVM setup or have you defined "hard" partitions.
If you have default install of Fedora then you are in better luck - resizing lvm volumes is a breath in comparison to dealing with hard partitions.
For LVM please check great arch wiki.
For hard partitions follow advice from marriedto51 (post before mine).
