Unhappy f17: missing decoder???

Hi everyone!
I'm a new fedora user. I have upgraded fedora 17 and I have had a problem My Totem or my VLC player can't play video anymore. I have installed:
PHP Code:
yum install gstreamer
but Totem still didn't work.
Thank you!

Re: f17: missing decoder???

Do you definitely have the rpmfusion repos installed? If not do so

Re: f17: missing decoder???

I don't want to send you on a wild goose chase, but for what it's worth, I usually install mplayer and ffmpeg (the latter more for transcoding) and it seems that that usually pulls in everything I need. On occasion, I'll need to get libdvdcss

http://packages.atrpms.net/dist/f16/libdvdcss/

from atrpms--although that's for F16, it will probably work. (I haven't had to install it on any F17 installs, so not 100 percent sure about that.)

Those are about the only hints I can think of....and I make no guarantees, usually just installing vlc pulls in all necessary codecs.

One other possibility, though probably a waste of time is to uninstall then reinstall vlc.

Re: f17: missing decoder???

It's listed on the RPM Fusion Repoview page

http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...deo.group.html
http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfr...d-nonfree.html

Try doing a yum search gstreamer without wildcards to see if it shows up.

if you go the the link smr54 posted you can click on RPM Fusion Free for Fedora 15, 16, 17 and (if using FireFox) use the default option to open it with Software Install and do the same for Non Free after Free has installed, then do a yum update you should be all set. It'll tell you if it has been installed already. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try just in case.
