Synaptic says I have 2 broken packages....

Here's the Bugzilla on it: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=832846 Frankly, I have no idea why they even keep synaptic in the package list. It's a Debian-based package that is a poor fit for RPM's. Try substituting Yumex if you want a gui version of Yum. Somewhat similar to Synaptic/Apt.

i got fedora updating now i'll let you know if yumex works. but the filesystem and setup are still broken in synaptic.

i went to install yumex but it didnt work. i clicked on the icon and the mouse pointer just kept bouncing up and down but never loaded the application. i couldnt get yumex to work properly on fedora.
