I have a Fedora machine which isn't normally on the network, but has been on the network before. I tried for several hours to connect to my cable modem and turn on networking, but failed. I know the modem and cable is okay because it works with a different machine. For the fedora machine, the error message is:
Quote:
# /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup eth0
Bringing up loopback interface: [ OK ]
Bringing up interface eth0: Active connection state: activating

Does anyone know what I should do to get networking working? What are the steps to diagnose and correct this?
Any help is very much appreciated.
