ABRT 'sucks'

Will my system die if I remove abrt*

will this work:

Code:
yum remove abrt*
and what is the difference between 'yum remove' and 'yum erase' ?

Thanks.

That will work. It's what I did. Your system won't die (at least mine didn't).

Diff between yum remove and erase? None. Both do the same thing.
Code:
BASH:~/-> sudo cat /var/log/yum.log | grep abrt
Jan 03 13:36:14 Erased: abrt-plugin-kerneloopsreporter
Jan 03 13:36:16 Erased: abrt-addon-kerneloops
Jan 03 13:36:17 Erased: abrt-plugin-logger
Jan 03 13:36:18 Erased: abrt-gui
Jan 03 13:36:20 Erased: abrt-desktop
Jan 03 13:36:20 Erased: abrt-plugin-sqlite3
Jan 03 13:36:21 Erased: abrt-addon-python
Jan 03 13:36:22 Erased: abrt
Jan 03 13:36:23 Erased: abrt-plugin-bugzilla
Jan 03 13:36:24 Erased: abrt-addon-ccpp
Jan 07 13:16:31 Erased: abrt-libs
And to clean up afterwards:
Code:
sudo rm -r /var/cache/abrt/

Only the guru sitting atop the snow and ice covered mountain can answer that question.

See my add-on note to my first response.

I got rid of it myself. Sure was an annoying pain in the butt. Maybe they'll work out the kinks in FC 13

Oh thanks Pablo for the clean up code..

Code:
sudo rm -r /var/cache/abrt/
Worked a treat

Thanks for the tip. ABRT is annoying. I tried it couple of times, finally made it through one bug report for Firefox and then the maintainer closed the bugzilla saying it was not sufficiently described. Oh, well. I tried.

Re: Can I remove ABRT?

If I remove abrt, do Python stack dumps appear again? Not seeing stack dumps is REALLY annoying.
