Cannot access menu bar/desktop toolbar

Hey guys!

I've got an odd issue. I just installed F11 on a fresh drive, and all seemed to go fine. But when I boot up and go to the gui I get desktop icons but no top or bottom bars.

How can I find out what the problem is and then fix it?

GFX card is an ATI X1950 pro which it detected.

Thanks.

Your resolution might be set too high. Change that from the virtual terminal, or create a new user from the VT, try with that user.
