Unable to mount external usb hardisk in Fedora 16

Hi Everyone:

I have just installed new fedora 16. Although I am able to mount and work with 4GB usb stick, however i am unble to mount the external 500GB usb hard disk.

Just a point that there is no problem or hardware issue with the disk. It is because same thing happened last time when I installed fedora 16. At that time I looked around alot on internet and while trying differetn things, it just appeared. At that time I thought it was detected may be because I plugged it in as root authentication. However, after that first time I was easily able to use it like other usb sticks.

however, this time it doesn't appear to be detected.
