7zip, where's the app shortcut in Fedora 15? please..

Hello members, i've installed the 7zip package in Fedora 15 (using Gnome3), the install was both the 'pluggin package' and the 'archiver', but i can't find how to run the program.

I did open 'nautilus' file manager as a 'su' user, and found a folder 'p7zip' under usr/libexec/ location, it has three executables, 7z, 7za and 7zCon.sfx

How do i run this program, i have tried uninstalling and then re-installing the packages using both the 'Add/Remove software' manager, and using 'Yum extender', and also via the 'terminal' as an 'su' user and entering....

yum install p7zip

Any ideas from members would be great

regards
Livio

According to /usr/share/doc/p7zip-9.13/README
Quote:
7z uses plugins (7z.so and Codecs/Rar29.so) to handle archives.
7za is a stand-alone executable.
7za handles less archive formats than 7z.exe.
7zr is a light stand-alone executable that supports only 7z/LZMA/BCJ/BCJ2.

7z and 7za are command line only programs (no GUI)
man 7z
man 7za

Am i correct in that there are only two ways to use 7zip, 'Archive Manager' and via the 'terminal' window?

I have come across a link to a GUI interface called J7Z, see below

http://code.google.com/p/k7z/

..is anyone using this?

regards

Edit note: just read posts from 'glennoz' & 'bruno.taglienti' as i was posting this

There is also a GUI archive manager which supports multiple formats (including 7z) called PeaZip.

There are .rpms available: http://peazip.org/peazip-linux.html

Re: 7zip, where's the app shortcut in Fedora 15? please..

Thanks glennoz for the 'terminal' info, bruno.taglienti and Miikka thanks for the other program suggestions, i'll have look at them.

I only installed 7zip because 'UNetbootin' USB flash linux installer asked for it, as it stands after using the 'UNetbootin' software to create a 'Puppy Linux' USB stick, the 'Flash stick' wouldn't boot, anyway... that's another problem.

Thanks alot for your help
kind regards

Isn't there a package that makes the classic archiver thing in Gnome handle 7z files? I don't remember the name, but I guess you can just yum search for it.
