F17 Printer help

Hi all,
I am running F17, 3.6.9-2.fc17.i686.PAE and having problem to get my network printer to work. I installed the printer under Application>others>printing, it seems detect my printer over network and allow my to finish the process with correct printer path. When it come to printing, it tell me that the printer is not connected.
If I try to find my network printer with localhost:631, it doesn't even deter my printer.
Can somebody help me get this working.
By the way, I can use Win7/Xp to connect the printer with no problem.

Re: F17 Printer help

Is "Show printers shared by other systems" ticked in "Administration" section?

Re: F17 Printer help

Perhaps it's a firewall issue.
Is the network printing client port opened (port 631, udp)?

Re: F17 Printer help

Paul, something similar has happened to me, with my HP 7200 series photosmart printer (using Fedora 17 x86_64). But I must add that it used to work for me, connected only over the network via my router. Starting about 3 or four weeks ago I too noticed that Fedora/hplip telling me the printer is not connected. (My router sees it fine, btw.)

I've disabled the firewall and set SELinux to permissive mode, but still, CUPS (localhost:631) doesn't detect it like it did.

Was something changed? Anyone? Bueller?
