Re: My Fedora box hangs without reason, in Windows it works without problems!

No hangs so far, but real test will be over this weekend. With intel driver every monday that I would return to work I would find my Fedora frozen. I'll report back on monday.

Re: My Fedora box hangs without reason, in Windows it works without problems!

I left work on friday at 4:30 PM, and it worked until saturday afternoon, then it froze!

Here are last lines from system log:

Dec 1 17:45:01 valent root: I'm alive
Dec 1 17:49:29 valent dbus-daemon[834]: dbus[834]: [system] Activating service name='org.freedesktop.PackageKit' (using servicehelper)
Dec 1 17:49:29 valent dbus[834]: [system] Activating service name='org.freedesktop.PackageKit' (using servicehelper)
Dec 1 17:49:29 valent dbus-daemon[834]: dbus[834]: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.PackageKit'
Dec 1 17:49:29 valent dbus[834]: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.PackageKit'

Could Packagekit cause of system freezes?

Re: My Fedora box hangs without reason, in Windows it works without problems!

It still hangs. It is not intel driver issue.

This weekend it didn't freeze and this is first weekend in MONTHS that it didn't freeze. I created a simple script that moves mouse cursor, so I'm not sure if that is what has prevented Fedora from freezing or it is just a coincidence...

Here is the script:

$ cat mousemove.sh
#!/bin/bash
i=1
while [ i=1 ]; do
xte 'mousermove 1 1'
sleep 1
xte 'mousermove 1 -1'
sleep 1
xte 'mousermove -1 1'
sleep 1
xte 'mousermove -1 -1'
sleep 1
done

UPDATE:
Script didn't help, it still froze.

Re: My Fedora box hangs without reason, in Windows it works without problems!

After latest kernel and X update my machine didn't freeze over last weekend! This is first time in months that I had uptime longer than 3-4 days! Uptime was over 7 days.

After using 3.8 kernel from rawhide I didn't get any system freeze, 12 days of uptime and counting...
