Upgrade from 11 to 12...

Hi,

I've upgraded successfully to version 12 from version 11. However, I've problems with my graphic card in the graphic interface.

My graphic card is a NVIDIA Geforce 9800 GT. So, I've updated with the last driver and reinstalled several times through # sh NVIDIA.... but I got a problem (unable to load kernel module 'nvidia.ko'.....) Then, I've installed with option sh NVIDIA.... -k $(uname -r).

Apparently it's done but nothing for accessing through the graphic interface, always a black screen.

Any idea to fix this problem?

Thank you.

Hi...

I've found the following error message in Xorg.0.log:

Quote:
(EE) NVIDIA: Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module. Please check your
(EE) NIVIDA: system's kernel log for additional error messages.
(II) UnloadModule: "nividia"
(II) Unloading /usr/lib64/xorg/module/drivers/nvidia_drv.so
(EE)Failed to load module "nividia" (module-specific error, 0)
(EE) No drivers available.

Fatal server error:
no screen found
So, how I can install the NVIDIA system's kernel?

Thanks.

Have a look at the nvidia thread in my signature. Be careful to follow all the steps and to select the correct package for your kernel. You will need to remove whatever you have already installed.

Thank you...

However I get the following missign dependency:

Quote:
Missing Dependency: kernel-uname-r=2.6.31.6-145.fc12.x86_64...
I've tried to search the dependency and apparently it's installed yet. Then I've tried to install with --skype-broken but nothing has been change.

How I can to solve this dependency?

Thank you.

I'm not on a F12 machine at the moment so I am just repeating this from that thread

Code:
There are 2 version of kmod in rpmfusion for the 2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64 and the 2.6.31.6-145.fc12.x86_64

kmod-nvidia-2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64-190.42-1.fc12.4.x86_64.rpm 2009-Nov-10 08:37:44 2.2M application/x-rpm
kmod-nvidia-2.6.31.6-145.fc12.x86_64-190.42-1.fc12.6.x86_64.rpm 2009-Nov-25 22:38:02 2.2M application/x-rpm

Looks like pbs has the 2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64 kernel and it's trying to install the 2.6.31.6-145.fc12.x86_64 version.

I had the same problem, and the "yum --enablerepo=rp*g install kmod-nvidia-$(uname -r) xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.x86_64 " fixed it for me.
