My understanding is that you will need icedtea-web. Do you have icedtea-web package installed?

This is java plugin for web browsers.

I did a quick search online. Now, I am not so sure if you would need to install Oracle Java or if it will work with openjdk. In the case of oracle java, I believe you will need javaws (java web start).

Re: opening .jnlp files in fedora 17

Thanks for reply.
i used sudo yum install java-1.7.0-openjdk icedtea-web and it installed
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Package 1:java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.9-2.3.4.fc17.i686 already installed and latest version
Resolving Dependencies
--> Running transaction check
---> Package icedtea-web.i686 0:1.3.1-1.fc17 will be installed
It then installed icedtea-web.i686 0:1.3.1-1.fc17 .

Then I used following command to open the file but it failed
$ seamcat.jnlp
bash: seamcat.jnlp: command not found...
What should I do now.

Regards

Try this

Code:
