Mplayer problem

Hi community. I experienced a weird issue. My linux(FC 16) box have been hanged up after i tryed to watch the movie. I used mplayer to watch it. It looks like the some bug in the kernel because the whole input was not responsible, and I had to reboot the machine. I can only play the file correctly after I specified "-ao alsa" command line option. Is it a well-aware problem?

Re: Mplayer problem

I don't recollect that exact issue, but I have, in the past, run into having to specify alsa. (But, I don't remember why--whether it was just because I hadn't installed pulseaudio, which was more optional at the time, or whether there were specific troubles with it. Also, in my case, it didn't hang the system, it just wouldn't play sound.)

Note that you can also specify that it use alsa in /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf
