Advice for anyone upgrading to Fedora 18 using FedUp
Due to the number of issues I have seen with people upgrading to Fedora 18 using FedUp, I am recommending that everyone do a yum distro-sync after they upgrade.
Code:
su -
(root password)
yum --releasever=18 --disableplugin=presto distro-sync
There are issues of packages not getting updated, and this is causing numerous different problems to occur.

And depending upon when you run this, please, do NOT forget to run
Another thing, before I was then able to update all sorts of things, I also had to manually follow the instructions to enable the rpmfusion archives for FC18 (seemed odd to me)
Code:
yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-18.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-18.noarch.rpm
That said, thanks for the hint.
Thank goodness I was able to ssh in to my computer to apply updates, because the video driver was what was causing the problem. And now I boot into the GUI! Yeah!

Re: Advice for anyone upgrading to Fedora 18 using FedUp
Something I saw on the Fedora site that one blogger recommended was the following...
$ package-cleanup --problems
$ package-cleanup --orphans
They seem to have helped me.
After reading the F18 documentation, where it explicitly states not to use fedup from F17 to F18, only from F18-beta and above, and that you must do a fresh install to F18 from F17 and below, I did just that. My F18 install is working fine, and since I backed up my home ( and do on a regular basis) there wasn't too much agra getting back to operational state.

Hmmmm.
Good morning, Mr. "served."
I notice two things immediately. First, it seems your space bar may not be working, and secondly, I'm seeing the normal kind of stuff we get from spammers as they establish themselves before dropping their payload.
And ... given those two things, I must admit my spammer radar has locked on you, and weapons systems are engaged and firing circuits are warming. So ...
This would be a real good time to send me a Private message proving you are legit. Otherwise ...
EDIT: Ayup. Third nonsense post. You're now fully targeted and weapons are hot. Proceed.
<..  ..>
Oops. Your five minutes are up.
BANG!
( tinkle, tink!)
Copyright check that.
Buh, bye now.
