SOLVED: Inkjet Photo printing: Too dark

Hi there. I recently started experimenting printing photos with my Canon Pixma MG4250 using GIMP.
The quality appears fine, except the pictures are a bit on the dark (and a touch on the green side).

The print driver provides lots of options but I'm not sure which ones to tweak to get the desired effect.
Unfortunately it gets expensive to do too many trial and errors too.

Does anyone know parametersI I need to change to brighten the image and maybe correct the greenness?

PS: If I print from windows, the photos appear brighter and not so green.

Thanks! -turgut

Re: Inkjet Photo printing: Too dark

To be honest, I loved my old (2003) Pixima but the linux driver sucked at the time.., actually is sucked right up till 2008. However that's not to say yours does. Anyway, http://www.inkowl.com/index.php?p=se...n+Pixma+MG4250 should help keep the price down and instructions are included.

Sorry, but I can't add more without sounding like an hp salesman.

Sorry for the double post but the MG4250 accepts memory cards. Have you considered; cropping your pic in gimp (4x6, 5x7, 8x10), save them to a memory card, and then printing directly off of the memory card? ie., don't print from the pc.

Re: Inkjet Photo printing: Too dark

Hi there. great idea about memory cards, thanks!

Actually my printer came with EXTERNAL cartridges.. Some company here converts new printers to use external, refillable huge cartridges. They attach to the side of the printer and a ribbon hose goes inside to the printer heads. So, at least the ink is cheaper this way!

I have been researching this issue, and apparently there are some color managers for KDE (which I'm using).. I do not know which color manager KDE uses, and/or how to modify it.. I'm looking into it now.. -t

I solved the whole issue by downloading and purchasing Turboprint.. It's a GREAT print manager.
I just printed a picture at 9600 DPI, and the tones, the sharpness of the image is "weeping good" -- so good it makes you weep. -t

I was just about to suggest Turboprint as I use it extensively on my Epson. I know some folks dont like paid software but it totally rocks.....
