Oops! Yes protectbase was enabled, I will try again
edit: nada in updates-testing, kde 4.3 still appear only in rawhide here, must be something with the mirrors or whatever, i'll try again tomorrow.

well i installed it now and must admit its far from being stable, the whole x session freeze if you change the wallpaper type from image to globe and i can't change it back for some reason. also freeze when changing compositing from bilinear to trilinear and backwards. air theme looks good but oxygen was better to read imo, the other new goodies are nicei really like the notifications and dolphin folder preview.
edit: i set wallpaper type to "virus" to see what it is (apparently a virus) and i can't change back to image, it freeze x just like the globe mentioned above - a bug in plasma ?
edit: after deactivating compositing/desktop effects i am unable to turn them on again, the error message say effects don't work with my current x config. effects worked after initial update to 4.3 but now they don't after a restart.

i'd think wait for 4.3.1 an then reinstall it
u have to need rawhide repository for installing KDE4.3
yum --enablerepo=rawhide update *kde*
Don't Grow up Without LINUX
"This Picture is for Microsoft"
That's a very dangerous idea, and I would not recommend that anyone try it, unless they want to destroy their OS. It will pollute any stable Fedora OS with potentially unstable 'rawhide' packages, and may be difficult (or impossible) to reverse/undo.u have to need rawhide repository for installing KDE4.3
yum --enablerepo=rawhide update *kde*

the subject tag is:
How do I install KDE 4.3 on Fedora 11?
so now KDE team release stable 4.3 version. and it will also found fedora update repository site few dayes later. so no need to use rawhide.
i send the previous command for those who not to use there fedora in production environment.
and or can't wait for stable release.![]()

This is how you do it on Fedora 11
if you want new kde packages, then as root:
nano /etc/yum.repos.d/kde.repo
copy & paste the following:
then type in yum update and watch it updating to the latest and greatestCode:# kde.repo, v2.1 [kde] name=kde mirrorlist=http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/fedora/mirrors-stable gpgkey=http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/kde-redhat.RPM-GPG-KEY #gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-kde-redhat enabled=1 [kde-testing] name=kde-testing mirrorlist=http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/fedora/mirrors-testing gpgkey=http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/kde-redhat.RPM-GPG-KEY #gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-kde-redhat enabled=1 [kde-unstable] name=kde-unstable mirrorlist=http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/fedora/mirrors-unstable gpgkey=http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/kde-redhat.RPM-GPG-KEY #gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-kde-redhat enabled=0Note that you can enable/disable repos by writing in 0 or 1. I updated to KDE 4.3.0 RCs weeks ago - at that time they were in kde-unstable. AFAIK KDE 4.3.0 now resides in KDE testing, so its better to leave kde-unstable disabled (unless you want to end up with alpha quality kde 4.4 stuff in the near future).
And of course you don't need to upgrade to rawhide! This works on Fedora 11

Any update on this info? I'm using KDE 4.3 from the kde-redhat testing repo and there are a few (very minor) annoyances that I've run into. I was wondering whether this has been solved in the "testing" repo; and also I feel a bit more comfortable using the "official" repo's whenever possible. I'd also like to know where I go to report bugs, because I'm sure I've found a few.
I switched from kde-testing to updates-testing and at least at the time I did that, the packages from updates-testing mostly replaced those from kde-testing.
I used yumex to manually choose the packages from updates-testing.
I guess the packages are mostly vanilla KDE, so https://bugs.kde.org/ is the right place to report bugs.
I just installed it from testing. No conflicts were flagged, and seems to be fairly complete and stable.
sounds good.
anybody had problems with compositing or the wallpaper types globe and virus ?
like I mentioned in an earlier post the x session crash if you try to change back to a single image wallpaper or desktop effects are messed up. maybe another bug in nvidia drivers that came to daylight now.
I had problems with both virus and globe backgrounds, just as you described.
Also, it seems that spanish language support is not complete.
x session crash is almost certainly a driver issue
yes I can confirm now it's a nvidia driver issue of the 185.** series. according to nvidia forums there are many bugs that can freeze x under certain circumstances. it did not happen again with the 190.18. driver on my system.
