    su -
    yumdownloader libX11-1.1.4-6.fc10
    rpm -Uvh --force --test libX11*

    That's why I put the '--test' flag in there - it won't really be installed, just a dry-run.

    Strange, everything here is working fine. The only difference is I'm running x86_64 and I updated to what was available in updates-testing, I'm also running the latest 2.6.29 kernel from koji.

    What i updated today. I updated rpm fusion to updates-testing too.

    So if there is no error output from the test it's safe to install the older version?

    Edit: I thought I posted this already but I don't see it.

    Looks good! Please let us know if it solves the issues. A re-start of X11 might be required to flush the old libX11 out of RAM.

    Very nice Vince. That fixed it. I needed to reboot but now Pysol and VLC work as they did before. Can't thank you enough. Don't know what I'd do without the card game to bide my time while waiting for other computer stuff to happen.

    Good deal, that fixes this issue - I see some other threads that may be related to this.

    Anyone file a bug report yet ? I can't, as I am in F9 and have not applied those updates.

    Yeah, there are a handful of other threads that could be related to the libX11 update. I hope the original folks here are still following this thread and get their issues fixed. I don't have time to file a report right now. Maybe in the early AM tomorrow. I should have time then. Thanks again for all your help.

    Looks like someone's all over it already (the maintainer):
    https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=491813
    https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=491915

    Although "Severity"=medium and "Priotity"=low might be changed of some of you guys comment with reference to these threads here.

    What about it guys? Have you made progress with this issue? I want to add that although my issues are solved yum still wants to install libX11.i386 1.1.5-1.fc10. To prevent this from happening I've added a line to my /etc/yum.conf, exclude=libX11.

    Well, I for one cannot do anything...

    I tried Hlingler's suggestion and I got an error message:

    Failed dependencies:
    libX11 = 1.1.5-1.fc10 is needed by ("installed") libX11-devel-1.1.5-1.fc10.i386
    the "installed" is a translation, my setup is in dutch...

    I also dot the devel, and tried
    rpm -Uvh --force --test libX11-devel*
    and got:
    fout: Failed dependencies:
    libX11 = 1.1.4-6.fc10 is needed by libX11-devel-1.1.4-6.fc10.i386
    (btw "fout" is dutch for error...)

    What if I (silently - since no music) sit this one out - unless there's something for me to learn...

    Tnx

    Thor
