When I boot with Kernel-2.6.11-1.1267_FC4 I get the this error
Uncompressing Kernel.....
------------------------------------
Ran out of input date
System Halt
Is that a kernel problem or should I change something to make it work ?

Possibly a problem with the kernel on your system. Did that problem happen when using with the old kernel?
Desktop CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X - Memory: 128GB DDR4-RAM - GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ AMD Radeon RX 9070XT 16GB Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe with Heatsink, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB NVMe and NAS WD 7200 RPM 4TB for backup - OS: Fedora 42 Design Suite x86-64 and Windows 11 64-bit
Laptop Dell Inspiron 14 7445 2-in-1 - APU: AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS with Radeon 780M - Memory: 16GB DDR5-RAM - Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 4TB NVMe - OS: Fedora 43 Design Suite x86-64
No it has never happened
This is almost certainly a corrupted vmlinuz image in /boot.... could you have run out of disk space during the kernel install? Or have you been having filesystem problems? Power loss / reboot / panic shortly after the kernel rpm install?
No I did not have any of these problems kernel installs fine and everything seems to be smooth until the rebootOriginally Posted by AndyGreen
Actually I just tried Kernel-2.6.11-1.1268 and I have the same problem. My boot space is only 22% used
I just installed FC4T2 on a new AMD64 computer and I get the same error with the kernel supplied: 2.6.11-1.1226_FC4
Any workaround?

Is it a SATA drive? Perhaps the problem is an inability of grub to retreive the whole vmlinuz image, not that it isn't there.
I use a SATA drive.. Using a VIA K8T800 chipset (or perhaps it was K8T800 PRO).Originally Posted by AndyGreen

nope mine is 400gb ATA seagate baracuda drive
If I edit grub at boot time and remove the acpi=off in the kernel line, the kernel boots further, until it actually asks me to enter a runlevel, complaining it can't find a inittab file... problem reading the root??

I'm gonna check this out ,, what if I put acpi=onOriginally Posted by Joffer

Ok I just checked and I don't see any acpi=off in grub

acpi=on gives me the same error (asking me for runlevel) as just removing the whole acpi option
I probably got it since I installed using acpi=off as an option during bootup of installerOriginally Posted by RUSTY
I guess we have to wait for a new kernelOriginally Posted by Joffer
