auto page separation with mouse gone

its difficult to explain, but in fedora 6 (if i had more than one window open) i could slide the mouse pointer up to the top/left corner of the screen and it would minimalize all (2 or more) windows on the desktop in a smaller grid like environment.

that was great and helpful.
but
now (in Fedora8) it no longer works.

what happened (its like redhat6.1 had a bug w/the mouse being able to drag/scroll the side bar sometimes)(that was great too, but no longer).

some things should be brought back, or how can i activate that ?
