Cant logon my fedora8, the login screen stops and ever goes on...

Here is the thing, i Got Fedora 8 DVD i586 downloaded from the official site, hve installed it and everithing was OK, but one day (not far from the day I installed) I turned on the computer and on the start screen it stops, i mean the only thing I see is the mouse arrow with the lil blue thig arround it, and i whaited to see if it was doing anything but nothig, i can only logon in command line mode by pressing the ctrl+f1 combination, I think that the problem is with the video settings, but sence im new at Fedora (at linux u might say), i whana know hoy to fix this problem.

Thank you for you aswer if there's any

we need some more info first
did you update the computer the day/night before
is your system a desktop or laptop
also have you tried rebooting with the install dvd in and selecting repair from the menu you should be able to boot into your sys and undo what you did

-------------------------
most likely not .
It sounds like a bad video driver or a bad x11 config but with out knowing if updates were applied or only partly applied or if it was a xorg update and all he needs to do is reconfigure x11 or reinstall the vid driver? need more info!
