difference between live cd and net install

I first used the live cd to see what Fedora is and if it works on my laptop (dell xps m1530).
Amazingly everything was fine, even the wireless card worked immediately!
So I decided to do burn the boot.iso and install fedora from an internet mirror.
And then the wireless didnot work...:-(

What 's wrong with the net install?

If you are going to use Fedora with a laptop, I would install via the LiveCD since it has a lot of things preinstalled for you that will make your laptop experience easier.

Well, that sounds great.
But... in another thread I was just reading that there is not any difference between the version on the live cd and what's on the internet or install dvd.
Apparently they are different regarding to the drivers that are installed.

Yes, I tried a DVD install of Fedora on my laptop and several things were not automatically configured and installed, then I did a LiveCD install and all was right with the world. lol

I normally use the DVD for desktop installs and the LiveCD for laptop installs.

I don't know where you're getting this from... As far as I know there is nothing on the LiveCD that is specially geared to laptop installs. Could you cite some documentation?

It's driving me mad...
Yesterday night I again booted from the live cd and had wireless network. So I decided to the the 'Install to Hard Drive'. After installation and reboot it downloaded a whole bunch of update (224 or so, including a kernel update), and then my wireless stopped working.
I booted from the live cd again, and now it is saying that I have only a wired card.....????

Is wireless really so difficult?

Here I am again.... I discovered that everything is working fine if I log in as 'root'.
But that's mortal sin in LinuxLand...:-/

Install from Live CD problems

Still having troubles:
1. Boot from live, login as root: wireless working perfectly
2. Install to hard drive: ok, reboot
3. No further finalizing installation step asking me for user name and so ... ??
4. but I can log in as root, and wireless card is not present

What am I doing wrong?????

This may have been from my F7 trials... I recall having to install the ipw3945 wireless drivers after a DVD install, but they were already installed and setup for me when I used the LiveDVD. Same with NTFS-G and some other tweaks.
I was quite pleased when I discovered that the F8 LiveCD had the iwlwifi drivers installed as default.

Finally got it working.
I followed the instructions of this website: http://fedoramobile.org/fc-wireless/network-manager/
to configure the NetworkManager and the networkcards properly.
No everything seems ok
