Problem:
Trying to boot FC8 live CD - kernel boot hangs after "Ready"
Details
1) Media is known good (used to install a different machine 5 minutes prior to this issue)
2) Hardware
Tyan S2510 Motherboard, AMI BIOS 1.05
2 x Intel PIII 800MHz
1GB (4 x 256MB) RAM
1 x Promise SATA300 TX4 4-port SATA Card
4 x 400GB SATA Drives - NO RAID CONFIGURED
1 x IDE CDROM on Primary IDE Bus, as IDE Master device, no slave devices
Yamaha CRW-F1E, 1.0c, max UDMA/33
3) Software
F8 Live i686 CD from
http://download.fedoraproject.org/pu...-Live-i686.iso
4) On boot, system reported
Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.
ACPI: Unable to load the System Description Tables
..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
agpgart: unable to determine aperture size.
agpgart: unable to determine aperture size.
The system then hangs forever
5) I was able to remove the above error messages by using the following options:
agp=off noapic acpi=off
But I still am at the situation where the system does not go beyond this point.
6) using the options
agp=off noapic acpi=off earlyprintk=vga loglevel=7 initcall_debug nosmp
leaves me with a hang after:
sd 3:0:0:0: [sdd] Attached SCSI disk
ata5:00: ATAPI: YAMAHA CRW-F1E, 1.0c, max UDMA/33
ata5.00: configured for UDMA/33
scsi 4:0:0:0: CD-ROM YAMAHA CRW-F1E 1.0c PQ: 0 ANSI: 2
At this point, the system goes no further...
Any hints?
Thanks in advance
Jack
