Question on terminal inactive

Hi there, I have a question when I use the terminal Putty to access my Fedora 7 server from a Windows machine.

The problem is that the terminal will become inactive and stop working when no inputs for a long time (several hours), although I have a program running.

I am sure this is the problem of server configuration, because the case will not happen when I use the same terminal and terminal configuration to access a Mac server.

Can anybody point to me where to looking at this problem? I just have no idea where to go. Thanks.

Just leave it running top command and it'll be enough.

Check and change the ConnectTimeout in /etc/ssh/ssh_config on your server.

Any special values ? I have zero on mine, and out of all system I manage, only one times out. The rest of it may be left without any running app - which means 0 value is for sending keep alive packets. The only PC I have to leave saidar or top apps running is behind a linux firewall which is beyond my administration. So, just to make sure, leave one of those two apps running.

top does not work.
Have edited /etc/ssh/ssh_config and restarted ssh service (/etc/init.d/sshd restart).
Let's wait and see if the problem was solved.
