I was wondering the exact same thing. I followed another post that was similar but for another video card. I followed the directions and they all worked with the exception that I used the latest DRI driver for the S3 Savage card. It compiled and installed. I modified the xorg.conf for dri and rebooted. Still no acceleration. Any help would be greatly appreceated.

[root@localhost root]# glxgears
319 frames in 6.0 seconds = 53.167 FPS
240 frames in 5.0 seconds = 48.000 FPS
240 frames in 5.0 seconds = 48.000 FPS
240 frames in 5.0 seconds = 48.000 FPS
240 frames in 5.0 seconds = 48.000 FPS
360 frames in 6.0 seconds = 60.000 FPS
360 frames in 6.0 seconds = 60.000 FPS
360 frames in 6.0 seconds = 60.000 FPS
