Label a floppy disk

I'm preparing some floppy disks to be demonstrated inside a computer museum, ok I'm kidding, I'm installing Win95 off floppies.

But I need to label them DISK2 etc. or setup won't use them, how on earth do you do this on the command line?

I've tried mlabel, which isn't install or available in the repos, man'd the floppy and fdformat commands.

I do not need to format, only label, preferably from the command line.

Thanks, Savage

Hello:
I was going to suggest giving either tune2fs or e2label, but I'm not sure they will work on an unformatted (non ext2/3) floppy?

If I can find a floppy I'll give it a whirl and see

I just gave it a go, and it doesn't like that bad magic!

Bloody foreign filesystems not appreciating our fedora magic!

mlabel is part of the mtools package, it's in the base F8 repo. Use "yum install mtools" to install it.

Hello:
I was just going to post what markkuk did
You may already have mtools installed ?
I found a floppy and as you found out and I suspected it does not work with either e2label or tune2fs, however mlabel worked just fine
