cd drive mounting

I want to load an audio cd onto my desktop, fc8. I put in the cd, no icon appears on desktop, it used to. I checked /dev there are no entries for hda hdb hdc or hdd. Any ideas on where to start?

Hi

first check whether the cd rom is connected properly

if yes did u stop any services

i guess if you had done just check whether u have started the hal daemon( this happened with me on fc5)
