Lightbulb S-Video recorder?

Hi I need a simple GUI that can record from S-Video to DVD on Fedora 8.

I need it because I'm trying to convert my VHS tapes to DVD.

Well, it depends on what kind of video capture card you have. You can use Myth TV to record video, but that might be overkill. If you are using an ivtv based capture card, you can use "cat /dev/video0 > filename.mpg" from the command line. You might even be able to use vlc to capture as well.

I'm not using a capture card well as such,
The S-Video is built in to my Nvidia graphics card.

Most of the Svhs ports on graphics cards are output only.

I would like to see if my S-Video is in or out,
How do I check?

I have the Nvidia graphics Geforce FX 5200.

If it is out then what options do I have for copying my VHS tapes?

I am on a budget.

You will have to look at the specific vendor description of your specific card. Some of the chipsets could use input but the manufactures never implemented it (in hardware).

Some of the cheap tuner cards have inputs. In the US most of these are pretty cheap right now because in Feb 09 analog tv signals (over the air) will be banned.
