can't switch between sessions (compiz problem)

compiz-fusion seems to be acting up whenever I use multiple sessions.
the problem is as follows: I can start another session, e.g. a root session in hackedbox, XFCE or whatever. but when I try to ctrl+alt+f7 back to the original session, or when I close the new session and it automatically tries to open the original one - I get a black screen. I can move my mouse around (yay), but nothing else. not even ctrl+alt+f1 or ctrl+alt+backspace works

I'm on Fedora 7 64-bit and I have uhm... the newest nVidia drivers and Compiz-Fusion (& Emerald) I guess. any ideas?
