Yes, I created a new account and it is fine now. However, with this new feature (XGL, Beryl etc, ) the maximize, minimize and close icons from the top right of the window are gone. Can we bring this back? Thanks a lot for you help.
Yes
No
Nearly worked

Try selecting emerald as the window decorator ( this can be found in beryl-manager )
Tried that and still the same issues...Originally Posted by leigh123@linux
looks to be an ATI driver issue and/or compiz-fusion issue as it seems to be a universal problem across different Distro's.
I think the Ubuntu folk are loading the libGL.so.1.2 driver from the 'mesa' libraries to get compiz-fusion working with AIGLX but there seems to be a big hit on performance doing so...
Might need to wait for a driver/compiz-fusion fix for ATI from the way things are looking...
I would say the fault is with the new ATI driverOriginally Posted by psyklops

No prob... and thanks for all your work on the compiz-fusion packages.Originally Posted by leigh123@linux
This guide worked great for FC7, but after a fresh install of FC8 I have a problem. I install the drivers according to the posted guide and xorg crashes, reverting eventually back to the vesa drivers (with the wrong display resolution, which I have not been able to fix). The ATI drivers never successfully load.
I am using the latest kernel (2.6.23). The problem (I think) is that I am using a FireGL v5250 (laptop). Again, this worked fine with FC7, but I think the most recent driver will not support my card (not sure about this, however). So: if I need to go down a driver version or two, how do I do that, is it advisable/possible, or should I just wait awhile until FireGL cards are supported?
Thanks in advance.

I'm running an ATI 9800XT which should work with CompizFusion. Thanks for your help!

Hi Leigh,
I am getting strange behavior with my laptop. Yesterday, it was fine after creating a new user account.
glxinfo showed
Today, with glxinfo I gotname of display: :0.0
display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: Yes
even I create a new user account.glxinfo: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/xorg/libGL.so.1: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied
You need to disable selinuxOriginally Posted by manojg

you mean to disable selinux before doing all above the processes and then enable again?
No just disable selinux reboot ( and if you want to re-enable it you can after this )Originally Posted by manojg

One more question.
How to make this yes. I trieddirect rendering: No
bot it did not work. I am also testing the "Mesa". An example mesa code sayOption "UseInternalAGPGART" "no"
I guess it is because of./gearbox
freeglut (./gearbox): Unable to create direct context rendering for window 'gearbox'
This may hurt performance.
direct rendering: No

So gaming works fine, videos are fine. It's just compiz I'm having a problem with. I also tried your compiz packages, with nearly identical errors. It was a little more verbose about 'try with the --replace' switch, but it wouldn't restart metacity when it failedCode:# glxgears 5130 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1025.923 FPS 5261 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1052.070 FPS # fgl_glxgears Using GLX_SGIX_pbuffer 860 frames in 5.0 seconds = 172.000 FPS 1078 frames in 5.0 seconds = 215.600 FPS 1063 frames in 5.0 seconds = 212.600 FPS.
What should I try next?
