Hey I've noticed this recently with videos and games. Really don't know what's going on. I have the latest nvidia drivers installed. what happens is simply that the image lags every second, roughly, sticking and then jumping, as if it's skipping frames... More pronounced in games than in video. Even 64bit games like nexuiz become unplayable because of the frame skipping. Or at least I assume its frame skipping. But it is definitely related to the graphics interface. I'm using XV as video output in kaffeine. I'm running FC7 64bit.
Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: I'm thinking it might have something to do with compiz-fusion (using the kagesenshi repo) ... But I didn't have this problem with compiz before, i think... I did a ctrl+alt+backspace, and ran nexuiz in kwin - no probs. Enabled compiz - there was framedropping.
Edit 2: It is strange though, as it is definitely erratic. I have compiz-fusion running now, with the opening credits of star wars running (perfect for detecting dropped frames because of the scrolling text) and there is no dropping of frames at all..
