IntelPROWireless3945ABG on vaio vgn-fe41z
Im very new to linux and having problems in making my wireless network work. im using
kernel.i686 version 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6
I tried installing following things in the respective order:
1 - ipw3945d-1.7.22-3.i386.rpm
2 - ipw3945-firmware-1.13-1.noarch.rpm
3 - dkms-ipw3945-1.1.3-2.noarch.rpm
after their installation a file /etc/init.d/ipw3945d has been generated. When i boot the system ipw3945d does get loaded and also in Administration:Network, im able to see my wireless network card detected. BUT when i try to activate the connection, after trying for a bit it simply messages: "failed." In wireless settings ive set Mode: Managed, SSID: (whatever it is), key: the same as the one we give in windows to connect to our wireless network, and finally im not sure about the channel. Can anyone please let me know if im missing something or if there is some problem with my wireless setting.
Is there even a simpler way to get it work if i uninstall all these packages.
Please help me resolving the issue.
