Automatic Logout

I am running several computers with Fedora Core 6. I am having a problem that when in init level 3 the terminal is automatically logged out after one hour of no activity. On one computer not only is there a logout but also the monitor is placed in power save. How can I prevent these changes from occuring? In addition I have not been able to get the monitor out of power save even though I can log in using the keyboard. How can I return the monitor to an active state? When running in init level 5 there are no similar events. However, this may be because the screen saver always provides a minimal level of activity.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
