Hello everybody,
I just wanted to post a few comments on Fedora Core 6. First of all it has been a very long time since I have loaded a distro on my computer. Due to school and time restriants I really havent been able to delve back into any linux distro in years and I am extremely happy to see the advances made. Several years ago I was a firm user of slackware because of the stability and basic set up but I did use redhat (before FC was around) and found it to be not very stable. Its really nice to see such a huge leap in the the linux community and the amount of helpful people out there.
FC6 I have found to be very stable and very easy to use. Although gnome is becoming more like the explorer shell for windows but that doesnt really matter. Perhaps showing a bit of how long it has been since I have used linux its nice to see a program like cvsup that actually works well with linux (yum). Nice to no longer have to hunt down libraries and force add them because the program I am trying to run requires an older library. Driver support is wonderful! So many positives I dont think I can list them all. A few complaints would be the SElinux package...erm....not so wonderful. Also it does seem that my computer runs a bit warmer with FC6 than Windows but I need to get some firm numbers to confirms that(yes, I havent taken the 2 minutes to compare the temps yet). So far thats about it. Just thought I would let everyone know to keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Mike.
P.S. the cubed desktop is spiffy....a lil extravegent and seems like an AMOR but still nice to see the advances in the gui area.
