Hello,
i have recently installed fc6 and want to get the proper 3d grafics drivers installed. i have done this so far.

# su -
# yum install kmod-fglrx
Then i tryed to do this " # init 3 " but it said it was not a reconized bash command so i want to know how to shut down x and finish what i have started.

This is the site i used to guide me threw the install. http://www.fedorafaq.org/#radeon

Your PATH must be messed up for some reason and it cannot find the program. This shouldn't be the case when logged in as "su -l"

Try doing this:
# /sbin/init 3

BTW, I just bought a Radeon x1600 2 days ago, and I am still unsuccessful in getting the 3D graphics to work, even after performing the steps in your link to the Fedora FAQ. I have been Googling ever since with no luck.

If you get it working, please post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.

Good luck!

I'm back ...

If you have trouble making 3D work, try the posted xorg.conf file in post #11

This worked for me!
