Pentium M
The processor on my laptop is listed (using Belarc Advisor) as a Pentium M. Is this 586 or 686?

So then to install on my laptop I would use the "linux i686" command at the boot prompt as described by Leigh.

Yes, that would be fine. It SHOULD install as i686 by default, but with that glitch, the command is still the best option.
