Yum: Transaction Check Error
Hi,
when i use yum to update "yum -y update" the program checks for updates and dependencies but when it goes to download i get this error:
Code:
Transaction Check Error: file /usr/lib/libpcsclite.so.1.0.0 from install of libpcsclite1-1.3.2-8.fc6.at conflicts with file from package pcsc-lite-libs-1.3.1-7
file /usr/lib/libmp4v2.so.0.0.0 from install of libmp4v2_0-1.25-1.fc6.at conflicts with file from package libmp4v2-1.5.0.1-2.lvn6
How do i fix this?
Thanks,
Mitchell

Hello:
You have installed some rpms from atrpms, which can cause some problems. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/JohnMa.../ATrpmsWarning
I am not sure how many or what rpms you installed from atrpms?
Perhaps you can remove them?

Hello:
from a terminal type
yum list installed | grep .at
and post the output, so we can see how many or which rpms need to be removed

Hello:
Wow ..... yes, however, you may get lucky as well.
Do you only have the one atrpms repo, if so can you run
yum list installed | grep -F .at
and post the output

Hello:
Wow..... once again...
I would suggest opening 2 terminals and log in as root to both using
su -
yourpassword
In the first terminal type
yum list installed | grep -F .at
you can refresh this terminal by hitting the up arrow and enter
In the second terminal
yum remove unwantedpackage
You can start one at a time an simply copy the package from one terminal to the other
Most if not all the packages that are installed from atrpms are available in either fedora-extras or livna, except mythtv for example.
I am not sure which package(s) caused your original problem therefore, you may not have to remove all of the packages. It's going to be one a time .. trial and error thing.
Once you get it cleaned up set your atrpms to enabled=0 to disable the repo and if you want to install something then use
yum --enablerepo=atrpms install xxxx
You will have a list of what you removed in the yum log
Edit:
There is a suggestion / tip here for installing rpms from atrpms

is this going to mess up other dependencies? How will i be able to fix that? Will a yum update fix missing dep?
Just trying to prepare myself for the problems.

Hello:
I honestly don't know as I have no way of knowing all the combinations?
It may or may not, that's why I suggested starting one at a time. You could start with
yum --enablerepo=atrpms remove PIL
and see what happens
If it removes okay then move on to the next one. If the yum remove action wants to remove dependencies that are all from atrpms ... well that's okay.
If yum remove wants to remove other non-atrpms then skip it and leave those to the end. Then you can post the out put here and either myself or someone else will help you with it.

I don't think this will work, but you can try yum --disablerepo=atrpms update and see if the dependencies go away. If it does work, I'm sure it will eventually come around and byte you in the arse somewhere down the line anyway.
There have been several dependency threads lately concerning mythtv suite and atrpms, and in all cases, I believe they wound up removing all the atrpms packages and updating succesfully, but I don't know if any went back and reinstalled mythtv suite.
I believe you can install mythtv by DLing it from atrpms and install it with yum localinstall /path-to-file/mythtv (without atrpms) and yum will get the deps from fedora (or livna or fresh if you have them and need them) but I don't know about mythtv suite.

well i just removed all my ATrpm's from my computer. It actually only took 2 yum remove ... to get em all each one removed a ton of dep.
I then disabled ATrpm via this guide http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=99220
I reinstall myth forcing ATrpm, tried the yum update and it still works! Yay!
I am not sure if this problem is related but for some reason my Lirc doesnt work now! It did last night. I tried testing it with irw. First I would start the lirc deamon, it says ok.
with the first execution of irw it goes right back to prompt. if i just it again it says
Code:
connect: Connection refused.
Then if i restart the deamon the stop fails. So for some reason irw kills lircd. Why?
I tried reinstalling lirc and lirc-kmdl but i get the same thing. It seems the kmdl can only be grabbed from ATrpm could that be the problem?
Thanks

It could be something that got removed in the dependencies. You can look at the yum log and see what got removed as dependencies. You might recognize something. You can probably reinstall some of them now that atrpms is disabled.
I just looked at your list and sure enough lirc-devices.noarch so you can reinstall it from another source now. Maybe even from Fedora (I don't know, never used it).. Just go through you list and yum them back in from fedora (if available). Do you have livna or freshrpms repos installed? You'll need one of them for non fedora goodies (mp3 and wmv and all those other goodies).

Hello:
Not sure, but you may want to look in your /home/username/
and look for any .folders or .files that may be related to lirc and or lirc-kmdl
and remove them after you un-install then try the re-install again.
Glad you got most things sorted out
