In terminal as root type "sha1sum FC-6-i386-DVD.iso"
(This is for DVD iso,if you habe CDs you must type the name for Cds)
Wait a few minutes for system to check the iso file and then it will show you a line
Check that this line matches the line from the above sha1

Now remember - that SHA1SUM value is for the un-burned iso image. If you've already burned it to media, just boot it and run the built in media check.

Idea is you verify your iso image's SHA1SUM value BEFORE you burn it to media - prevents coasters.

thanx alot ppl 4r the help appreciated.... but immediatley after this post I found the solution as follow:

I went through the txt file on the mirror (README-BURNING-ISOS-en_US.txt) and used the utility "express checksum calculatior" .... the downloaded iso looks f9 as sha1sum matches...

I was just wondering, the above README file tells how to match checksum in windows but do'nt tell anything about matching checksum in linux....
I guess it should tell abt linux as wel.

If you have downloaded the CD isos, the quick way to do it (assume the SHA1SUM file is in the same directory as your ISOs is):

sha1sum -c SHA1SUM
