yamaha soundcard(opl3sa2) not working

Hi there,
I have installed FC5 on my PII 266 Toshiba Laptop 256mb with a 6gig HD. The sound detector is finding my OPL3SA2 sound card with the following information:
VENDOR : YMH0021
MODEL: YMH0021
MODULE: snd-opl3sa2
There is NO default PCM device selectable.
There is NO sound played when I try to test the sound, and on startup it informs me that FC5 can't find something so it will continue with null output. I have tried modprobe snd_opl3sa2 but error message was sent.
