launch program from usb drive

hi all,

do anyone know how to set to run program direct from usb pendrive. example : a.xls in pen drive sda1. i click on the file, i see openoffice will launch but cannot open. I have to copy a.xls to my /home to be opened.

Hope someone has the solution.
