VSFTP and Kerberos

When I built my Fedora sytem, I did a complete install. As a result it, installed the Kerberos stuff. I thought I had disabled Kerberos, but I obviously did something wrong.

When I try to FTP to my server, I get the following set of messages.

[root]# ftp localhost
Connected to localhost.
220 piglet.stortafamily.com FTP server (Version 5.60) ready.
334 Using authentication type GSSAPI; ADAT must follow
GSSAPI accepted as authentication type
GSSAPI error major: Miscellaneous failure
GSSAPI error minor: No credentials cache found
GSSAPI error: initializing context
GSSAPI authentication failed
334 Using authentication type KERBEROS_V4; ADAT must follow
KERBEROS_V4 accepted as authentication type
Kerberos V4 krb_mk_req failed: You have no tickets cached

Name (localhost:root):
530 Must perform authentication before identifying USER.
Login failed.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
ftp>

It doesn't even let me try and enter a password because of the Kerberos stuff

I know nothing about Kerberos and really just want to uninstall it or completely disable it. Can anyone help me figure out how?

Thanks,
John

how about we take a look and see what has been installed on your system using the following commands in the terminal:

# rpm -qa | grep kerberos
then try
# rpm -qa | krb

Wrong forum, but this should work:

yum remove krb5-workstation
yum install ftp

vsftpd should use passwd file by default and not kerberos, unless u added this as a authentication type during firstboot

u might want to look at
system-config-authentication
